Nothing quite matches the intense feelings you will experience walking in the bush in big 5 country. Close encounters with lion, elephant, buffalo or rhino in their environment are special memories you are unlikely to forget. This safari is not for the faint-hearted and promises real time adventures in the world famous Kruger.

Day 1 and 2
You travel towards the sunrise in the east, over the escarpment and into the lowveld. Your first and second nights in the bush in luxury accommodation at Bataleur Bush Lodge is spent with your safari guide and personal chef.

This is the smallest and most private bush lodge in the Kruger. Dinner is around the camp fire, which is followed by a walk around the camp listening and orientating you to the night sounds of the African bush.

Day 3 to 5
You leave Bataleur on the third day and are driven deep into the bush to a base camp from which you will spend your days walking. There will be a 3 to 4 hour walk twice a day with an armed and qualified ranger.

The excitement and thrills that walking in the bush brings is a never to be forgotten experience. We take you up close and personal to experience real wildlife in its natural environment.

A camp assistant cooks breakfast and dinner in the open and you are also provided with snack lunches during your walks.

Day 5
You are returned to your base camp where you can relax and enjoy some of the comforts of your luxury accommodation.

Day 6 and 7
Day six is a game drive day and you look for the animals and birds. We travel back to Bataleur camp and take a well-deserved rest from walking by relaxing and listening to the sounds of the bush.

Day 8
A morning game drive, a hearty breakfast and then back to Gauteng over the escarpment filled with memories of close encounters with the big 5 and a sense of sadness at leaving the Kruger behind.
