Shimuwini Bushveld Camp (northern Kruger)
Our vehicle All photos by Neil Heron
24 TO 25 OCTOBER 2025 (1 NIGHT)
Shimuwini is situated in the north between sparse, isolated hills in the west and the Lebombo mountains in the east. Shimuwini is set in a remote area along the Letaba River with superb river views. Shimuwini Camp is in the northern region, the area ranging southward from the Tropic of Capricorn to the Olifants River. The sparse, isolated hills in the west are rich in pre-historic artefacts, while the Lebombo Mountains in the east form the natural boundary between Kruger Park, South Africa and Mozambique.
At Shimuwini you will see many different animals coming down to drink along the river within view of Shimuwini Camp. Accommodation is your own private en-suite unit (includes fresh linen and towels) that sleeps one to two people (single or couple).
Sirheni Bushveld Camp (northern Kruger)
25 TO 28 OCTOBER 2025 (3 NIGHTS)
Sirheni Bushveld Camp is located on the edge of the Kruger National Park’s northern plains. Running past to the Mphongolo River's Sirheni Dam, the camp's accommodation facilities and two bird hides survey a wide variety of passing game and birds. Guests may be awakened to the sounds of a lion making at kill at the dam, and a resident leopard is often seen coming down to drink at the dam.
Accommodation includes private en-suite one-bedroomed units under thatch that each sleep one to two people (serviced; fresh linen and towels).
Pafuri Border Camp (far northern Kruger)
28 TO 30 OCTOBER JULY 2025 (2 NIGHTS)
The baobab dominates the skyline and once you reach it you notice that the road starts to wind down into the Luvuvhu River Valley and the Pafuri region of Kruger - and into another world. Land of giants, place of silence, ancient space - no description is enough to capture the place that is Pafuri. This is a place that whispers the Africa of the past, where the roar of a lion carries across a land of ancient baobabs, gorges and fantasia.
The ground is littered with the tools of our early ancestors, each stone telling a story. Crooks Corner, the infamous point of connection of three countries, played a role in the colourful recent past of the area.
Accommodation is in the private Mockford House that sleeps 6-8 people in 4 bedrooms – three of them en-suite (includes fresh linen and towels). The guest house boasts a braai area, camp swimming pool, veranda, lounge and dining room.
Shingwedzi Restcamp (restcamp/northeastern Kruger)
30 OCTOBER TO 1 NOVEMBER 2025 (2 NIGHTS)
Centered in a quiet clearing along the banks of the Shingwedzi river, this eponymous camp provides well-balanced Kruger National Park accommodation offering of luxury holiday and authentic, outdoor camping trip. Shrouded in mopane trees, the area produces sightings of waterbuck, nyala, kudu, and elephant, as well as a variety of bird species. While the river does dry up in summer months, animal sightings are more frequent in winter as groups challenge each other over quickly disappearing pools left in the wake of the disappearing river.
Accommodation is a private en-suite unit that sleeps one or two people (fresh linen and towels).
Letaba Restcamp (north-eastern Kruger)
1 TO 4 NOVEMBER 2025 (3 NIGHTS)
The idyllic Letaba Rest Camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River, midway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
The character of Letaba Camp depends heavily on the tall shady trees (Sycamore Fig, Natal Mahogany, Sausage Tree and Apple Leaf), expansive lawns and indigenous gardens where tame Bushbuck wander. Accommodation is Fish Eagle Private Guest House that has its own view of the river with four private en-suite cottages (serviced; fresh linen and towels).
Satara Restcamp (central Kruger)
4 TO 5 NOVEMBER 2025 (1 NIGHT)
Situated in an excellent game viewing area, Satara has relatively open bushland and the game is plentiful and diverse. Satara camp itself has a rustic charm, with the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara camp is well wooded, and the birdlife is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. Owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roar of lion. Accommodation consists of a private en-suite unit (including fresh linen and towels) that sleeps one to two people.
Orpen restcamp (northwestern Kruger)
5 TO 7 NOVEMBER 2025 (2 NIGHTS)
The area around Orpen allows for seeing the nomadic Senegal (Lesser Black-winged) Plover, and sometimes Montagu's Harrier. White-faced and Comb (Knob-billed) Ducks, Little Grebe (Dabchick) and Lesser Moorhen, African Rail and African Crake, as well as Wooly-necked, Marabou, Open-billed (African Openbill), White and Black storks may all be seen in the camp and surrounding areas. Addtionally, the camp is home to a wealth of raptors, shrikes, nightjars and owls.
Accommodation consists of three two-bedded en-suite units that each sleep one to two people, which are serviced with fresh linen and towels.
Departure day We always fit in an early morning game drive and a hearty breakfast before departure to the airport.
